What Car? Car of the Year Going Ahead in a New Digital Format

Many events have had to be cancelled in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic which has created a lot of disruption and disappointment in various different industries. One event which is going ahead is the What Car? Car of the Year Award taking place in January 2021 and it is a good example of events adapting and adopting new formats in order to go ahead.

The Rise of Digital Events

Clearly, events are problematic when it comes to a pandemic with lots of people coming together which has severely impacted the events industry. Fortunately, many have been clever in terms of going digital with the Car of the Year award being a week-long, entirely digital event which could reach an even bigger audience this year due to the reach of the internet.

A New Celebration

In association with ALA Insurance, the 44th What Car? Car of the Year Awards will be different to the years that have come before but will still be a fantastic celebration of the best new vehicles and auto industry. Overall category and price point winners will be announced in the first three days of the event as opposed to on the final day which will give these vehicles much more time to bask in their glory.

Categories

The categories for the awards include value car, small car, family car, small SUV, family SUV, large SUV, luxury SUV, executive car, plug-in hybrid, electric car and the overall Car of the Year. This means that there will be a lot to get through and it will be a chance for motorists to make smart decisions if they are in the market for a new car in 2021.

A Positive After a Tough Year

After such a challenging year, especially for the auto industry, it is fantastic to see that the prestigious award show will be able to go ahead with an exciting new format and potentially being able to reach many more people. Simon England, Managing Director of ALA, commented on the upcoming award show:

“The partnership we have with What Car? is something we’re extremely proud of and we’re happy to be part of the all-new awards format in the new year.”

Event cancellation has been rife in 2020 due to the pandemic, but What Car? Car of the Year will go ahead as planned in January 2021 thanks to a clever digital approach which could take the prestigious award show to new heights and be a fantastic celebration of the many great automobiles that have recently hit the roads.
