  • The next-gen AirTag may feature louder speakers, longer battery life, and wallet-compatible versions, with enhanced anti-stalking safeguards continuing Apple’s focus on user safety.

Apple plans on unveiling an upgrade of their popular AirTag item tracker sometime around 2025, code-named B589 according to Bloomberg . Current manufacturing partners in Asia are being tested according to Bloomberg.

The next-generation AirTag should feature a more powerful chip to enhance location tracking capabilities.

Gurman anticipates a more powerful chip for improved location tracking based on Ming-Chi Kuo’s prediction from October 2023 and anticipated release by 2025, possibly compatible with Apple Vision Pro technology.

Gurman has voiced his hope for louder speakers, longer battery lives and wallet-compatible versions of AirTag in particular. Notably, third party trackers already exist that work with Apple’s Find My network.

Apple was an early leader in providing anti-stalking features in item trackers and has continually enhanced these safeguards over time. Their focus on user safety prompted other manufacturers to adopt similar safeguards in an attempt to avoid misuse of tracking devices.
