Card launches with contest for food-lovers to experience Nashville’s restaurant scene

American Express and Delta Air Lines are launching the new Blue Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card, the only no annual fee1 credit card from a U.S.-based global carrier2 that offers two miles per dollar spent at U.S. restaurants and on eligible Delta purchases, and one mile per dollar spent on all other eligible purchases. Designed for consumers who are just beginning to explore the world of travel, the Card makes it easy to earn miles while running everyday errands or enjoying the local food scene.

Available starting Sept. 7, the new Blue Delta SkyMiles Credit Card is linked to Delta’s award-winning Delta SkyMiles loyalty program in which miles don’t expire3 and can be used globally with no blackout dates on Delta flights.

“We purposefully built this Card with the new or casual traveler in mind. This Card delivers incredible value to those who want to earn miles in an accelerated way while enjoying the peace of mind that their miles won’t expire – all without paying an annual fee,” said Sandeep Dube, Delta’s Vice President – Customer Engagement and Loyalty. “With more than a third of these consumers saying dining is their top choice for spending, earning two miles per dollar spent at U.S. restaurants is an appealing way to earn more miles.”

“Over the last two decades, we’ve worked closely alongside our long-standing partner, Delta, to design cards for all types of travelers,” said Eva Reda, Executive Vice President, Consumer Partnerships and Product Development, American Express. “Today, we’re excited to unveil the newest Card in our portfolio, the Blue Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express, which helps our newest travelers fuel and fund their travel with one of their biggest passions, dining.”

A poll4 conducted by American Express and Delta shows that U.S. consumers between the ages of 18 and 34 are more likely to travel for leisure in the next year than other age groups. Additionally, these consumers are passionate about dining and are dining out on a regular basis, with 37 percent saying they spend more money on dining each week than other discretionary expenses. Dining is also a priority while they travel, with 82 percent of consumers aged 18 to 34 saying that they are passionate about trying new dining experiences when they travel.

The Blue Delta SkyMiles Credit Card offers:

  • No annual fee1
  • 2 miles per dollar spent at U.S. restaurants
  • 2 miles per dollar spent on purchases made directly with Delta
  • 1 mile per dollar spent on all other eligible purchases
  • 20 percent savings in the form of a statement credit on all eligible in-flight purchases when flying with Delta
  • A welcome offer of earning 10,000 bonus miles after spending $500 in purchases on the Card within the first three months of Card Membership for new Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members5
