What’s New on Draft at Starbucks Reserve coffee bars

Inspired by the Seattle Reserve Roastery, a visit to a Starbucks Reserve® coffee bar is an exploration of rare, small-lot coffees from around the world and immersive brewing methods that bring out the unique, exquisite flavors of Starbucks Reserve® coffees.

Starbucks stores with a Reserve bar also feature handcrafted specialty beverages that showcase these special coffees, including two new beverages on draft for summer. Starting Tuesday, July 11, participating Starbucks Reserve bars in the United States and Canada will offer two new Nitro Cold Brew beverages, Starbucks® Nitro Cascara Cloud and Starbucks® Nitro Dirty Chai.

Starbucks first introduced Reserve Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew on draft at its Seattle Roastery, a space devoted to coffee craft that allows Starbucks baristas and development teams to explore new flavors.

“The best part about our job is that it revolves around introducing flavors that perfectly complement the specialness of our Reserve coffees,” said Sara Bennett from the Starbucks beverage R&D team.

Starbucks Nitro Cascara Cloud

For Starbucks Nitro Cascara Cloud, the development team found inspiration from cascara, which is made from the dried fruit of the coffee cherry itself.

The beverage is made with nitrogen-infused Starbucks Reserve Cold Brew, slow-steeped to bring out its dark chocolate body, berry notes, and rich, port-like flavor. The beverage starts with vanilla bean syrup, and then a long pour of the Nitro Cold Brew.  It’s topped with a velvety, merengue-like cold foam made with milk and cascara syrup, and finished with a strike of cascara sugar.

“We love the Cascara Latte, and wanted to embrace that with Nitro,” Bennett said. “We love the idea of using cascara – part of the coffee plant – to add flavor to coffee. Cascara elevates the flavor of every coffee it meets.”

Starbucks Nitro Dirty Chai

In coffeehouse lingo, a “dirty chai” is a hybrid of coffee and tea, often made as a chai tea latte with a shot of espresso. Starbucks Nitro Dirty Chai is made with our classic chai blended with cream, poured into the glass and topped with Starbucks Reserve Nitro Cold Brew. The result is a layered beverage with a creamy texture and a head of rich and airy chai foam.

“Coffee and tea combine beautifully in this beverage. The warm spice flavors of the chai play well with the port-like notes of the Nitro Cold Brew,” Bennett said.

Other specialty handcrafted beverages on the menu at select Starbucks Reserve bars may include the Melrose, which takes Starbucks Reserve Cold Brew shaken with cherry bitters and finished with a maraschino cherry. Customers can also cool down with a Cold Brew Float made with Starbucks Reserve Cold Brew poured over a generous scoop of Seattle-made Mora ice cream. Customers can also get their classic Starbucks Reserve Cold Brew on draft with or without nitrogen infusion.

Experience Starbucks Reserve

Starbucks customers can experience Starbucks Reserve coffees at the immersive Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle and more than 40 stores around the world with Starbucks Reserve coffee bars, including New York, Los Angeles, and Honolulu, as well as Canada, Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Starbucks plans to open new Starbucks Reserve Roastery locations in Shanghai, Tokyo, New York, Milan and Chicago.
