Nalu Kinetic Spa 

NORTH SHORE, OAHU, HI (April 29, 2013) – Today, Turtle Bay Resort opened the doors to its reinvented surf-side spa-fitness-wellness center, Nalu Kinetic Spa, a distinctive and energetic environment for the complete immersion in total health.

Definition:

• Nalu: Hawaiian for wave and ocean surf

• Kinetic + Spa: Where movement, water and the movement of water converge to support wellness

Perched on the edge of the world’s most exalted waves, Nalu Kinetic Spa is surrounded by water and movement. This powerful energy is surprisingly calming similar to “meditation in motion” or the calm with the chaos. With Nalu Kinetic Spa’s goal being more than purely aesthetic, like the ocean itself, it will gently push you to a new place.

The new Nalu Kinetic Spa provides a multi-sensory experience of the ocean: dramatic window walls with views of legendary swells, the sound of surf crashing on the beach, and an innovative Wave Therapy massage table that gently rocks you as if you were floating. Warm salt stones calm you down after an adrenalin surge, and a line of marine-infused products show tenderness to skin and hair that has been exposed to sun, salt, and sand. Nearly doubling in size to 11,000 square feet, the enhanced spa provides a multi-sensory experience for guests to submerse themselves in the elements of nature for relaxation, restoration, and rejuvenation. The spa’s new innovative Wave Motion table (only the third in North America) gently rocks you as if you were floating in water. Warm salt stones calm you down after an adrenalin surge, and organic, eco-friendly, and marine-infused product lines such as Naturopathica and Osea nurture and replenish sun and sand exposed skin and hair as well as the soul. Plus, world-class outdoor adventures from surfing and stand-up paddle boarding to shoreline horseback rides and glass bottom kayak experiences provide for an unparalleled Oceanside playground.

The expanded spa now includes the creation of a movement studio for popular wellness programs such as Zumba, Hot Hula and yoga; a new fitness centre with floor to ceiling windows framing stunning coastline views, furnished with state-of-the-art cardio, strength and functional training equipment; as well as an expanded beauty salon which features a unique pedicure area with garden views, a communal manicure bar and multi-purpose hair/make-up styling stations; an expanded and updated outdoor relaxation area; reception and retail area which showcases a diverse selection of personal care, beauty and lifestyle categories represented by premier brands and local purveyors. The spa also features three new open-air garden view massage cabanas and a new indoor couple’s treatment room with a breathtaking view of the surf.

Treatment Highlights:

Nalu Kinetic Spa’s signature spa treatment is the Nalu (Wave) Therapy. Provided on a specially designed massage table (only the third in North America), the signature Nalu treatment mimics the buoyancy of water and the healing rhythm of the ocean. Deep release is achieved through gentle rocking, gliding and kinetic movements. The rotation of the table allows the therapists to enhance techniques such as compressions, stretching and joint release.

The ninety minute Chi Balance and Harmony is another speciality treatment. This Japanese practice stimulates the body’s natural healing power. Treating the body as a whole helps restore the balance within the body’s energy (chi) flow. The uniqueness of this Zen Shiatsu practice incorporates stretches and manipulation along with interactive pressure to the body. As part of the Turtle Bay Resort’s ongoing multi-million dollar renovation, the resort opened the North Shore Kula Grille in early April, which takes the place of the former Palm Terrace/Leonardo’s restaurant.
