New Tipo Station Wagon, The Family Car

fiat 1

Close to families in terms of contents and price

Fiat has always strived to create solutions and products for families. In line with this tradition, here comes the new Tipo Station Wagon that in 4.57 metres of length has the space, functionality, technology and saving that make life better for everyone on-board, driver and passengers alike. Comfort for occupants is at the top of the category with room for passengers up to 1.87 metres tall in the front seat and three 1.80 metre tall passengers on the rear seat at the same time.
The generous 550-litre boot – at the top of this category – makes the car ideal for everyone seeking room, practicality and flexibility of use. With “Magic Cargo Space” the boot can be configured with only one hand making it perfect for all family, leisure or work needs.
Its configurable shelf can be set to two positions to increase the boot depth; two removable side walls can be used to stow small objects and exploit the width of the boot to the max.
The asymmetric Flip&Fold seats provide a flat loading surface without steps at the tailgate. The spacious boot and the high degree of configurability mean that carrying everything you need – bicycles, skis, prams, suitcases and objects up to 1.80 metres long – will be a breeze.

Fiat Tipo Station Wagon features a number of key contents and combines Fiat’s tried and tested principles of functionality, simplicity and personality. Proof of this is the rich array of standard equipment, the passive and active safety systems and the smart and useful technological solutions like the innovative UconnectTM 7″ HD LIVE system, featuring a 7″ high-resolution colour touchscreen display with capacitive screen and pinch&swipe functions, just like a tablet.
The latest-generation system includes a hands-free Bluetooth interface, audio streaming, text reader and voice recognition, AUX and USB ports with iPod integration, controls on the steering wheel and, on demand, rear parking camera and the new TomTom 3D built-in navigation system.

Tipo has a line-up of robust, efficient and particularly fuel-efficient engines: up to 3.7 litres/100 km with the Multijet 1.6-litre 120 HP diesel engine.
Also available is the Multijet 1.3-litre 95 HP diesel, the 1.4-litre 95 HP petrol and the T-jet 120 HP petrol and LPG engine. The line-up will be completed this month with the introduction of the DCT dual clutch transmission combined with the 1.6 Multijet 120 HP engine for seamless torque and traction without loss of power when shifting.
The dual clutch transmission can be used in automatic or sequential manner, according to whether the driver chooses a more comfortable and fuel-efficient or a more dynamic driving style.

The new Tipo Station Wagon is available from EUR 14,900 for the petrol version and from EUR 17,300 for the diesel version. The price can be reduced by further EUR 1,000 by choosing the MENOMILLE financing plan. This is for a car complete with climate control system, Uconnect radio, six airbags, electric windows, roof bars and “Magic Cargo Space”.

A rich offering for business customers, too

Fiat Tipo Station Wagon is designed for work, too. The special Business version, for instance, features UConnect NAV 7″ HD Live infotainment with Tom Tom 3D navigator, parking sensors, Adaptive Cruise Control, Brake Control and Speed Limiter as standard equipment.

Interesting facts about the Fiat Tipo Team

The Tipo family does not just mark Fiat’s comeback to the mid-size sedan segment: it is above all a global model for an increasingly more global brand. It was designed in Italy at the FCA Style Centre, developed in Italy and Turkey together with Tofaş R&D and manufactured in the Bursa plant to be sold in over 50 countries of the EMEA region.

There were more women than men on the young and international team development team and women were also the leaders at the Style Centre. The Tipo family project brought together designers, engineers and product and marketing specialists from Italy, Turkey, Korea, Spain, Russia and Austria. The average age of the team was remarkably young: less than 37.

The car underwent hard tests, to ensure that its high standards can be guaranteed worldwide: it was tested in four continents, from Mexico to Dubai, from Sweden to South Africa, from Turkey to Brazil, travelling the equivalent of218 times around the world, from sea level to 4000 metres above, and in temperatures ranging from -30°C to+51°C, on every type of road. The result is a user-friendly vehicle, born to make life simpler for those on board, where everything is at hand to offer comfort and functionality.

It is not a coincidence that the prestigious “Autobest” award named it “best buy car 2016”: the 5Doors and Station Wagon versions were judged together with the Tipo 4Doors as the most convenient car of the year by a jury of 26 journalists from the top European car magazines. This accolade confirmed the qualities of the model.
