Access Bank Strengthens Its Commitment to The Communities Where It Operates

Recognized for its role and performance with young people and women, Access Bank Mozambique began 2024 by setting the agenda with several initiatives aimed at these two audiences, continuing its policy of commitment to the communities where it operates in Mozambique.

As part of its efforts to make a positive contribution to the education of young people, the Bank donated more than a thousand books to two schools located in the cities of Chimoio and Nacala, in the provinces of Manica and Nampula, respectively. The action is part of the ongoing project to equip libraries, which began in June 2022, with the aim of contributing to the development of education among young students. So far this year, the initiative has reached a total of more than 10,300 students at Tembwe Secondary School in Chimoio and Nacala Secondary School. The Bank believes that access to quality educational materials is fundamental for the intellectual growth of young Mozambicans.

This year, Access Bank has also launched the 2024 Graduate Program, a project that offers a unique opportunity to recent graduates who, through this initiative, can start their career in the banking sector. This year, the program will select 15 recent graduates to take part in a journey of learning and growth, which includes a visit to the prestigious School of Banking Excellence in Nigeria, at the Group’s headquarters. For six months, the new graduates will undergo theoretical and practical classes and psychotechnical exams.  From the previous edition, more than 14 employees are currently completing the program in Nigeria. While benefiting the participants, the initiative also contributes to strengthening the banking sector with highly trained professionals.

Since women are one of its main priorities, as part of the “Access Woman Network” project, which mobilizes employees and their families to support needy communities throughout the country, the Bank’s employees delivered a series of donations to needy communities in various regions of the country.

Using their own resources, the Bank’s employees bought school supplies, clothes, and non-perishable goods, in an act of fraternity in the workplace and promoting well-being in the communities. In total, they helped more than 285 young girls.

Recognized by Global Brands Magazine with the award for Best Bank in Corporate Social Responsibility 2023, Access Bank demonstrates its commitment to the sustainable and socio-economic development of Mozambique, increasingly focusing on a closer relationship with all Mozambicans.
