7 Reasons To Travel To Spain

Travel to Spain

Spain, a country full of colour, culture, history, and natural beauty, is a destination that never fails to captivate its visitors. This Mediterranean gem boasts a lot of visitors each year – and for good reason. From the hotels in Madrid center to the resorts in the canaries, there are countless reasons to make Spain your next vacation destination. Here are just a few:

Historical Sites

Spain’s history spans thousands of years, and the country’s diverse historical sites bear testament to this rich past. From the ancient Roman ruins at the archaeological ensemble of Mérida to the medieval Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain offers a trove of historical gems waiting to be explored.

World-Class Cuisine

Spanish cuisine is renowned worldwide for its variety, freshness, and innovation. From the world-famous tapas to the traditional Paella, Spain’s food scene is great for foodies. Treat yourself to pintxos (small snacks) in the Basque country, or indulge in seafood in Galicia. And, of course, don’t forget to wash it down with sangria, Rioja, or a crisp lager.

Weather

Spain has one of the best climates in Europe for sun seekers. Some regions have over 300 days of sunshine. Even in winter, temperatures remain mild, or even sunny if you head to the Canaries. Don’t rule Spain out if you dislike hot weather though, as the cooler mountain air of the Pyrenees remains an option.

Unique Festivals

Spain is home to some of the world’s most unique and vibrant festivals. Each region, each city, and even each town, has its own special celebration. Some well known ones include the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona and La Tomatina, the world’s biggest tomato fight in Buñol. Though, there are plenty of world class music festivals too, like Mad Cool and Primavera Sound.

Historic Sites and Architecture

Spain’s architectural heritage is as rich and diverse as its culture. The country’s architecture tells the story of its diverse history, from Roman aqueducts and Gothic cathedrals to Moorish fortresses and Modernist masterpieces. Antoni Gaudí’s masterpieces in Barcelona, including the iconic Sagrada Familia, are some of the most stunning gothic architecture around.

Art and Museums

A country with so much history and culture is bound to have incredible museums and art. Spain has been the cradle of some of the world’s most influential artists, including Picasso, Dalí, and Goya. Thankfully, Spain hosts many of these well known art collections too.

Friendly Locals

Last but certainly not least, the Spanish people themselves are a draw. Known for their warmth and friendliness, Spaniards make visitors feel at home. Indulging in the local culture, including how social the communities can be, you will meet many friendly people on your travels. Just be sure to learn a few words before heading off, as many smaller towns may not have a good grasp of English.

Spain is a country rich in history, culture, and joy. It’s one of the most visited countries in the world for good reason. There’s something for everyone in Spain, be it the people, architecture, food, or the weather.
