Force Is Female Celebrates Ruby Rose’S Relentless Drive

Glance over the sockliners of the new Force is Female Air Force 1 and SF AF-1 models and you’ll find a series of uplifting quotes, said by Ruby Rose, which she repeats as her own personal mantras. One reads, “Become Your Own Hero,” while another is emblazoned, ”With Full Force,” both a reminder of the potential realized when one embraces inner strength.

“What’s so magic about acting is the really vulnerable yet powerful action of continually testing and pushing yourself,” says Rose. “Those moments that are challenging, those that are new and exciting, they are the gems.” They might feel like harder work than playing it safe, but you end up with a strong feeling of accomplishment.”

Rose, who says she much prefers martial arts to dancing, has engaged in everything from death-defying stunts to singing in public, while the latter makes her “feel that I’m failing at everything miserably.” She relishes the restorative, near meditative, quality of pushing physical limits. Balancing the euphoria of an adrenaline rush with the frustration of having to re-train her voice and play guitar, Rose remains confident of the end result: nailing the role.

“To be well-rounded, you need to dive into things that you don’t necessarily feel competent in and learn those skills,” she says, which brings us back to her mantras.

The Force is Female capsule comes in Port Wine patent leather variations, punctuated by dark rubberized teal accents and a light neutral midsole, and Black Patent, which features reflective silver hits.

The color and material treatments are also seen in this season’s Nike Blazer Low, Nike Cortez Classic and Nike Air Max 95.

The Port Wine, releases October 27, with the Black Patent following November 16.
